Victim Of Horrific NYC Gay Bashing Speaks Out, NYPD’s Hate Crimes Unit Now Investigating

Police are still looking for a man who violently smashed a wooden chair over the heads of a gay couple who were on a dinner date Tuesday night at Chelsea’s Dallas BBQ restaurant.

Jonathan Snipes and his boyfriend Ethan York-Adams say they were rushing to leave the restaurant after Snipes received a text about a death in the family, when he accidentally spilled a drink. The man police say was about 6’4 and aprroximatley 35-years-old, called them “white faggots” from across the room and that’s when Snipes went over to confront him.

That’s when a violent fight broke out as a video recording shot by a patron shows, and captures the moment the large man came back over towards the couple, grabbed a wooden chair, and smashed it over Snipes and York-Adams heads.

Isaam Sharef, who filmed the attack with his phone, told CBS Snipes “was on the floor being stomped,” and said the attacker, much larger than Snipes, seemed “like he was stomping to kill.”

“Like, it was violently dangerous. It was out of control to even see it,” Sharef added.

The NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force is now investigating the assault but the suspect still remains at large.

According to NY1, some employees reportedly encouraged the assailant to leave before police arrived.
