‘Drag Race’ Star Sharon Needles Recreates Kathy Griffin’s Controversial Photo For Gay Bar Performance

Thought just about everyone was trying to distance themselves from Kathy Griffin’s controversial Donald Trump photo shoot? Think again. Drag star Sharon Needles has just recreated the moment.

The season four winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race pulled a performance out of the controversy on Monday.

It went down at the P Town Bar in Pittsburgh, where Needles often performs. According to World of Wonder, Needles applied fake blood to an Owen Wilson mask and changed up a red Joan Rivers wig to resemble Griffin’s hair. Needles performed to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ “Heads Will Roll” dressed as Griffin and holding that head.

“It’s kind of mind boggling the levels to this story,” Needles told World of Wonder.

“That a female comic in this day and age, who was a friend of Joan Rivers, and who was on Celebrity Apprentice with our president, is subjected to this type of abuse. I mean… if only Joan was still around. And the fact that we don’t hold our male politicians to the same standard as female comedians is shocking.”
